Answer:
Here’s something to consider: does safety outweight freedom? According to H.L.
Menchen, “The average man does not want to be free. He simply wants to be safe.” Safety does,
in fact, outweigh freedom because there is more of a sense of security in safety that in freedom.
Although some people might think that freedom is more important than safety, in reality, it is the
other way around with safety winning the battle of importance. Safety gives people a good sense
of security and makes them feel like they are doing the right thing in life.
One example that safety gives people a sense of security is being able to keep a job. Since
the economy dropped in 2008, many people have been worrying about the necessities in life.
They wonder if they will keep their jobs, if they’re going to be able to pay the bills, and if they
will be able to provide for their families and for themselves. A good number of people have been
laid off since the recession. For instance, Toyota has laid off numerous people who work the
assembly line. This leads to the employees worrying if their job is safe and most important, if
they themselves are safe.
Another example of security found in safety lies in the theory called Maslow’s Hierarchy
of Needs. This is a diagram of a triangle that describes what the basic needs are for people
according to Maslow. At the bottom of this triangle lies security and safety. It is at the bottom
because it is the most important need and is the first step to achieve total happiness in life. While
at the top there are selfless behaviors, it is the last need. However, to accomplish this you need to
start at the bottom and work up from there. It all starts with the most important needs of safety
and security.
While safety is a great thing, others feel like freedom is the ultimate goal to achieve. For
example, during the time period where African Americans were slaves, freedom was the most
important thing in life. Many slaves risked their lives to escape the hellhole where they worked.
It wasn’t until Abraham Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamation that African Americans
were free. Nevertheless, while African Americans might have been freed, they still had to worry
about their safety as they were heavily discriminated against and still weren’t treated equally.
In conclusion, safety provides people with a sense of security when freedom cannot. It is
the biggest and most important need people need to strive for in life. Without safety, there can be
no peace of mind and ultimately no complete happiness.

How does the author of “Finding Flight” incorporate ideas from the poem “‘Hope’ is the thing with feathers” into her work? How does she transform ideas from the poem in her work? Use evidence from the text to support your response. Your response should be at least one complete paragraph
In Emily Dickinson’s poem, she uses metaphor, likening the notion of hope to a bird that flies despite “the storm”, the cold of “the chilliest land” and the isolation of “the strangest sea” and because such metaphorical bird “flies” inside one’s “soul”, such hope is personified. In Finding Flight, the process is similar although here the text is not a poem but a story in prose. The device of remembrance of the figure of the late grandfather turns a hummingbird into a symbol of hope for the narrator. There is no metaphor here but actually symbolism. The hummingbird symbolizes both hope and the memory of the beloved grandfather who has “passed”. The bird “gives hope” both to the grandfather and the granddaughter. The plot structure is the same for both works, a reflection on the luminosity of hope, then a period of hardship that tests hope and then the resilience of hope despite all the troubles and darkness of life.

Here we go again, I thought. Another time-wasting experience. But Sukeforth looked like a sincere person, and I thought I might as well listen. I agreed to meet him that night. When we met, Sukeforth got right to the point. Mr. Rickey wanted to talk to me about the possibility of becoming a Brown Dodger. If I could get a few days off and go to Brooklyn, my fare and expenses would be paid. At first I said that I couldn't leave my team and go to Brooklyn just like that. Sukeforth wouldn't take no for an answer. He pointed out that I couldn't play for a few days anyhow because of my bum arm. Why should my team object?
I continued to hold out and demanded to know what would happen if the Monarchs fired me. The Dodger scout replied quietly that he didn't believe that would happen.
I shrugged and said I'd make the trip. I figured I had nothing to lose.

in paragraph 2, why does the author mention a statistic- the number of people who have completed the journey
Answer:
For evidence.
Explanation:
An author may include a statistic to provide evidence for their claims.
A statistic may be used by an author to support their assertions.
Why are statistics important in an essay?Because they enable individuals to make educated decisions, statistics are crucial. Statistics are gathered by corporations, organizations, and governments to aid in issue analysis, progress monitoring, performance evaluation, and priority setting. For instance, the U.S. Census Bureau gathers data on people's ages and places of residence. If cities discover that a region has a large senior population or a large number of families with small children, this knowledge might assist them to determine where to establish a new school or hospital.
On a personal level, using statistics to support your points in a paper or presentation is a terrific idea. They demonstrate the existence of supporting data and give your work more credence. There are a few things to bear in mind when using statistics to support an argument and persuade your audience. Because statistics are frequently used out of context, they can be deceptive.

"Be strong now, because things will get better. It may be stormy now, but it can't rain forever".
What do u mean by this qoute ?? Explain in ur own words .
Answer:
Be strong since things are going to get better, if not today, they will very soon! Know that it doesn’t rain forever. It can be stormy now, but things will eventually get good with the passage of time.
Answer:
This quote seems to generally explain that we can view situations we face at the moment as the "end of the world" and as it may affect us a lot at the moment, things will get better. The quote symbolizes there's hope and we need to understand that life can go up and down and not as we always expect it to. Stormy weather does not last forever like the problems we face in life so the quote uses the metaphor of weather affecting us now but will go away or better to life situations.

A siren wailing makes me feel( irritated- nervous- scared - relaxed)
and please if u know the answer tell me why u picked it because I can see all of them same meaning pls help
Answer: Scared
Explanation:
- I think no one gets relaxed from a siren wailing
- If it was nervous, it would've only made sense if the sentence was: A siren wailing makes me nervous (feel taken out)
- Irritated is not really a feeling, I don't have an amazing explanation for it, however
Answer:
I think... A siren wailing makes me feel nervous...
Explanation:
Irritated isn't such a peculiar feeling to do with sounds, it's kind of rare.
Relaxed makes not a bit of sense when interpreted(unless the person was an officer or framed someone else)
Scared has quite a similar definition to nervous but scared is a bit too amateur.

Hunger stalked the land, dragging its fists over each town near the shore. Many of the people from miles out waited by the shore for help to arrive. They waited for the ships to return with supplies and food, lots of food. The people of Motts hadn't eaten real food in over a week. They had been snacking on berries from the woods, but the berries were almost gone. They needed to do something quick, or they wouldn't have any food for the winter.
Which sentence from the passage makes something seem human?
A.
Many of the people from miles out waited by the shore for help to arrive.
B.
Hunger stalked the land, dragging its fists over each town near the shore.
C.
They needed to do something quick or they wouldn't have any food for the winter.
D.
They waited for the ships to return with supplies and food, lots of food.
Answer:
I think the answer is B. Hunger stalked the land dragging its fists over each town near the shore.
Explanation:
The answer is B because the author is using a method of writing called personification. Personification means making something that is inhuman sound human. Hunger the subject of this sentence, isn't a human thing. Thus, it can't stalk. So to say "Hunger stalked the land, dragging its fists" is using personification. I hope this helps! Have a good night, afternoon or morning! :)

1. What are the different versions of family in Into the Wild? Discuss both Chris's biological
family and the families he creates for himself along the road.
The different versions of family in the movie Into the Wild are through Chris' perspective. He lives in conflict with his biological family due to the materialistic aspects that he sees mainly in his father, who uses money as a form of control.
Therefore, the character Chris McCandless uses this family conflict as the main motivator of his journey of self-discovery on the road. An interesting fact is the adoption of a new name by Chris, which demonstrates the break with his past self in search of a new identity and ideals.
Aspects of Chris' biological family and the families he creates for himself along the way differ in values and principles, while his family is focused on materialism, the family Chris meets on his journey uses altruism, helping him with physical and emotional resources in his quest for self-knowledge.
