Answer:

My childhood dog, Marie, was growing old. Her fur was growing grey and dull, and her health was declining at a rapid rate. The poor thing was diagnosed with a sickness that would cost quite a bit to treat.

Before she got sick, I had been saving some money for myself to buy a nice new computer. It took many years and I gave almost reached it.

My parents didn't want to pay for it and told me it was time to let her go, but I just couldn't.  How could I let my little furry friend that always sticks by my side just die like that?

Time was running out and I had to make a decision.

What was more important? A computer, or my little dog?

I have the rest of my life to buy myself a computer. My dog is way more important to me. So I told my parents that I would pay for her treatment myself, because I love her.

They were hesitant to allow me, but seeing how much I cared for her, they agreed. And now my little fluffy companion is still by my side as I'm writing this.

Read the excerpt from "On Becoming an Inventor" by Dean Kamen.

Then I heard about a summer job through my uncle who was a dentist. He introduced me to one of his patients who had a business selling audio-visual equipment for big light and music shows. He was looking for some new, better equipment. I spent all summer when I was sixteen building high-powered light-controlled systems that synchronized many Kodak projectors at once, as many as sixty-four to 120 of them, and reduced the cumbersome machines from the size of a refrigerator to the size of a toaster. Not only was this invention used in theaters, but it was sold to the Museum of Natural History and the New York Planetarium to project views of the heavens on the ceiling. To make this new device I had bought every kind of electrical equipment I could find, and still had money left over.

Which detail shows that Kamen's light-controlled systems were very good?

Kamen was introduced to a man who sold audio-visual equipment for big light and music shows.
When he was sixteen, Kamen spent all summer building high-powered light-controlled systems.
One of his inventions was used in theaters, the Museum of Natural History, and the New York Planetarium.

Choose one of the protagonists and explain how he advances the plot of his particular
narrative. How does the combination of his internal and external conflicts move the story
along? Who is the antagonist in the narrative?
The book is American born Chinese.

Answers

Answer:

I would say whatever challenge they have physically or mentally, or what they have to overcome during the story.

It can be internal mostly, because it is something mentally to overcome. External would be Man vs. Man, Man vs. Nature, or maybe Man vs. Society.

The conflict would be when things start to go awry or be more interesting. The sensory details could commit some more drama to the conflict depending on what the conflict is.

‘As I approached the house the door was open...’

Answers

Answer:

i love writing so here

Explanation:

As I approached the house the door was open... it was so odd the door is never open. I crept into the door wondering what on earth is going on, the cold wind from outside coming into the house, it was pitch black inside all the lights were off. I was frightened so I said "Hello.. mom are you home?" no answer.

I decided to just walk into the house with all these bad scenarios in my head "what if there was a murder?" 'a robbery?" all these swarming thoughts in my head. I tried to gather my thoughts coming up with scenarios that did not scare me "maybe she went to the store and left the door open?" "maybe she is deep asleep and can not hear me and the door opened because of wind." I tried to convince myself.

I turned on the lights, terrified out of my mind. As I walked deeper into the silence I was quickly startled by "SURPRISE!!" I was so perplexed I said, "What is this for?" My mom, dad, and little sister said "For passing your drivers test!" wow.. I totally forgot that I even passed it. I gave them all a thank you and a big hug. I am just glad there were not any murderers in the house.

Hope this helped~

Where art thou, Muse, that thou forget'st so long
To speak of that which gives thee all thy might?
Spend'st thou thy fury on some worthless song,
Darkening thy power to lend base subjects light?
Return, forgetful Muse, and straight redeem
In gentle numbers time so idly spent;
Sing to the ear that doth thy lays esteem
And gives thy pen both skill and argument.
Rise, resty Muse, my love's sweet face survey,
If Time have any wrinkle graven there;
If any, be a satire to decay,
And make Time's spoils despised every where.
Give my love fame faster than Time wastes life;
So thou prevent'st his scythe and crooked knife.
